J officially turned 9 on Monday. She had a great day and looking back over the year it's amazing to see how much progress she's made. It doesn't mean there aren't challenges but amazing nonetheless.
Last year on her birthday, she was still in size 6x clothing. She stayed in size 6x from 10/23/06 (when she came home) until February 2009. 3 months into me being a stay at home mom. In February she went from a 6x to a 7/8 then in June she went to a 9/10. At her last doctor visit (May) she was 4' 2". On her birthday she measured 4' 5". Lots of growing going on..... It was almost as if she refused to grow until she attached. The power of the human spirit is an amazing thing.
Very low key day but she had lots of phone calls with birthday wishes. There were so many in fact, that I forgot to take her to the last ortho visit. That doctor is going to hate me when we finally get there. The first time it was scheduled I had the flu, the 2nd time J was having a terrible day and I couldn't get her there and now this one. Lovely. Stellar parenting I'm telling ya. We're set to try again next Monday.
The cake turned out pretty well considering I made it. It resembled brownies or fudge instead of cake. Not sure if that's the intended way to turn out but it was still very good. Rich, rich, rich.

I've never met a rich, rich, rich dessert I didn't like. In my opionon, they can never be rich enough. I have a powerful sweet tooth.
Happy belated birthday to J!
Cake looks great, Yes, I'd love a piece, thank you!
Happy Birthday, J! :)
Jeremiah has grown a bunch too. I love it! It was such a mom moment when I got to put his outgrown clothes away. :)
Blessings!

Happy Birthday Miss J!!!! Five of our kids are Scorpios too!!! 10/27 10/31, 11/8, 11/11 and 11/18!!!! YIKES.
Happy Birthday J! Who's in the picture?
T was the same way. She was the size of a 6 yr old up until about 2 years ago and then she started sprouting and now she is almost as tall as me! Happy Birthday, J!
Happy, happy birthday. Birthdays are my favorite!
My daughter did the same thing. Tiny for the first year and a half and then major growth spurt (which then became too much, but I'm going to blame that on meds).
Happy birthday J!

Happy birthday to J! It's definitely clear she's made a lot of progress. I'm glad her body doesn't need to use all its energy keeping her safe now that she can trust her mom to do that and now instead she can grow and get healthier. That girl's pretty amazing, but so is everyone else in the family!
Happy Birthday J! She looks so happy in the picture.
Happy Birthday J!! Keep up the great work :)
Happy happy birthday, J! And here's to the next year of phenomenal growth in all respects.
Lisa, the cake is beautiful!!
Yeah for success! Yeah for attachment! Happy Birthday, J! Hope you were able to enjoy it.
Happy birthday, J! :)
I am new to your blog, but it looks like we have a lot in common. We are currently adopting three sisters who we have fostered for almost two years. They all have attachment disorder, but the youngest (5 years old) has Reactive Attachment Disorder. I am looking forward to following your blog.
Happy Birthday J!!!!!
