that a piece of attachment is remembering what happened yesterday? Our first AT's mentioned it but I didn't "hear" it. I've read about it but don't remember where. Still it didn't click. Our current AT, Kristy, told me this again last week. My ears must've been open because I heard it this time. She encouraged me to have J remember the events of the previous day in the order that they happened. Thought it would be a piece of cake. Not so much. She really struggles to remember the events and gets very frustrated. It's not like she doesn't want to remember it's more that she can't. Interesting.
In case you're wondering how I posted 3 times during one day, it's because I have 2 kids in time-in. One on each side of me. They've been there most of the afternoon. Struggling with regulation. Joy.

Wow - never thought about that before.. but so true! Most of the foster children I've worked with couldn't tell you what happened yesterday if their lives depended on it!
Meant to ask too...I need advice from other RAD mom's. How do you handle requests by other children at school, etc etc that would like your child to spend the night. I KNOW she can't handle it...but how do you handle this situation? Especially with children in families that you don't know. My daughter is 10 and asks me all the time. I am really needing insight on this subject. :) Thanks!!
hee hee (sorry!)
I got so much done the other day during Chapstick-Gate! 2 kids in jail!
Genea has a terrible time with memory, even for todays lunch. We work on it every. single. day. If she is trying to relate a story, I can visibly watch her struggle to sequence the events. It has gotten much better. I started with assigning her something to work on remembering, like the letter of the day at school.
What do you think the reason behind that is? Possibly that they had to forget what happened to them in order to move forward when they were in neglectful or abusive situations?
