Hope

In case you're having a day (like me) where you're feeling a little hopeless cause it's just been one of those days. Let me share this with you. When J first came her behaviors were over the top. It was. not. pretty. In any shape or form. She was always looking for something to kill or mutilate. I'm sad to say that some 2 to 3 ft long fish did not come out alive. At least it wasn't me or Puddin but it wasn't for a lack of trying and much effort. Fun stuff people.

Click here for a picture from before. Sorry I can't upload it here. Lost it in the computer death.

Here's a picture from Friday night:

So even on the bad days it helps me to remember the progress. She's nothing short of a miracle.

YES! Those pictures are worth MORE than a thousand words! I could tell how much progress J even if I'd never read a word of your blog - just from her eyes. Pat yourself on the back Awesome Mom! (And hug those two girls "sitting in" next to you.) :)

She doesn't even look like the same kid!

I think that this is a great way of remembering all the great about her.

You are amazing and such a gift to J and K. There IS always hope and we have to look at how far our kids have come, not how far they have to go.

The eyes! Wow!

I don't know how you do it day in & day out without a break.

Hugs, Love & healing coming your way!

Hi Lisa,
I found your blog via Yondalla at "Thoughts from a Foster Family"... I ended up reading every single one of your posts, back from the beginning--and I find myself thinking of you and Jordan (and now SK!) nearly every day. Your enormous capacity for nurturing--and J's enormous capacity for change--give *me* such hope, and I don't even have children of my own yet. It is just awesome (in the most serious sense of the word!) and incredibly uplifting to see a kid finally get the life she always deserved.

Wow - I just looked at your before picture and it looks just like "Life" did last year when she came to live with us. Complete with food on the face! We are doing OT and PT to help with the sensory integration. Thank you for giving me such hope. Life has come a long way this year, but we still have a long way to go. J looks so much older than Life, even though Life is a bit older. But Life has aged two years this past year, so that is good - she is "unstuck."
