Trying to focus on the positive. The last couple of days have been challenging. Piece of cake compared to past behaviors but still when taking the steps backward you forget all the progress. Things have totally changed up now but going to take a prescription from Christine and see how it works. "Mother may I" for every. thing.
In light of the positive I wanted to share this. Several (many) years ago (pre-RAD) I had the pleasure of seeing Rent on Broadway. It was incredible. This song moved me to tears (still does) and had to buy the CD the next day (before MP3). Watched the movie when it came out. Not so much. Some of you have heard it but it touches my heart every single time I watch/listen to it. Thinking this song is very appropriate for all of us parenting radical/special needs kids.
Measuring our lives in love. Doing the unbelievable. Loving when they are unlovable. Everyday. Some days I think what I am doing doesn't matter. It does.
Click play. Brighten your day. You won't be sorry.
Lyrics below video.
Lyrics:
525,600 minutes, 525,000 moments so dear. 525,600 minutes - how do you measure,
measure a year? In daylights, in sunsets, in midnights, in cups of coffee. In
inches, in miles, in laughter, in strife. In 525,600 minutes - how do you
measure a year in the life?
How about love? How about love? How about love? Measure in love. Seasons of
love.
SOLOIST 1
525,600 minutes! 525,000 journeys to plan. 525,600 minutes - how can you measure
the life of a woman or man?
SOLOIST 2
In truths that she learned, or in times that he cried. In bridges he burned, or
the way that she died.
COMPANY
It’s time now to sing out, tho the story never ends let's celebrate remember a year in the life of friends. Remember
the love! Remember the love! Remember
the love! Measure in love. Seasons of love! Seasons of love.

Thanks you for this, Lisa! I really needed to see this video tonight...
Gina
My career before marriage and kids was as a singer/actor/dancer in musicals. I LOVE this song! Takes me back in so many ways, but also affirms who I am now. I try to do those things that no one else can do, like loving my wounded children and providing stability for my family. Awesome, as usual, Lisa!
Needed this song after the last 3 weeks....J has had a 2 week mania and 2 week depression so Christmas wasn't very pleasant! Even today, he regressed when he had to work in the yard. Good reminder...check out Reba's new song " I Keep On Loving You(it is on You tube)....she sang it on the Home for the Holidays Adoption Special last week. Good reminder too!
Happy NEw Year!
Oh how I love musicals and their wonderful way of expressing things through song! RENT is one of my top 5 faves... Love this song. (Also, love "I'll Cover You".)
I love this song, it was central to me making through working in the inner city in the 90's - I like the longer version though because I really do measure things in cups of coffee now! lol
Hope today is a better day there and here.
I loved Rent.
Awesome!!
Love this song!!!!!
I love RENT! I always try to catch it when it tours.
I have loved this song since I first heard it. Haven't heard it in awhile, so it was great to see this reminder!
Glad you weathered the storm successfully. Keep it up. It does matter!!!
