Positive Mom

Positive mom is back. Going to try to keep her here.

I was the recipient of the most wonderful backrub last night from a random act of kindness committed by J. Now I've got to put up the board for the scavenger hunt posted by Brenda. What a great idea! Perhaps Jessi could do one too.

Last night my "new" (2 y/o) fabulous laptop decided to poop out on me. All those times I said I was going to back up and didn't....I think I'm going to pay for that. =(

Made it through a funeral yesterday by staring at a picture of Puddin to keep me from crying. Afraid if I started it might never stop. Don't have time for that right now. Started a list of all the nice things I'm going to do for myself over the weekend to recover from emotional fatigue.

What are some of the things you do to take care of yourself? I could use some help on my list please.

Tracee, if you will please comment again I'll email you some info.

Have a blessed day!

I like to get pedicures. It is very relaxing and I feel refreshed afterwords. Also facials--they are great too. I also try to go to lunch with a group of friends once a month.

Shopping is always good for me. lol. I'm getting a haircut & color this weekend. That always boosts my mood. Sometimes just swinging by the local coffee shop for a good latte can make me feel good. The best, of course, is a massage! But that always takes planning and scheduling. hope you find something good for you!

After the kids go to bed I watch trash television (Rock of Love's charm school, Wife Swap, My Name is Ed). I take long, hot baths with a mask on - I read trashy, funny romance novels during these baths and "air dry" after so I can continue reading. I blog and read blogs. Some shopping therapy, but most of the time I have to bring my kids along which defeats the purpose. Lately I've been getting a lot of pressure to spend more time with the kids (who don't actually want Mom there) so I've been sewing Christmas stockings while I watch TV/movies with them (keeps my hands busy, but I'm available if they want me). Do the crossword online with Hubby. Read adoption support message boards and list-serves. The main thing I don't do that I should is get enough sleep!

Rock of Love's charm school is on my list, too! I also LOVE Man vs. Wild because Bear Grylls ALWAYS takes all his clothes off (they blur out the ugly parts of him, of course). Other than that, I don't watch TV (not neccessarily by choice). But I do LOVE Netflix. Because you don't have to follow a schedule and if you have a bad week you don't have to feel pressured. I also have my crafts with me CONSTANTLY. (quilting, cross-stitching, scrapbooking)

I haven't been out of the house on my own, not counting grocery shopping, in maybe a year so I have to make do with my little lunatics running around while I "destress". Which I am sure you can relate to :)

What do YOU do, Lisa? Inquiring minds would like to know...

My top 5:

1. A long bubble bath

2. A pedicure

3. Getting together with friends

4. A good book

5. A good stiff drink - maybe 3 or 4!!!

It has been a LONG time since I have been able to do any of these.

Trashy TV is at the top of the list, as are pedicures and massages.

Here I am. Any info or advice would be much appreciated!

As for relaxation... Hot milk or hot chocolate (w/a little shot of something grown-up thrown in) on the couch in my jammies with my foot bath and my pets and reality television and a decorating magazine to read during the commercials.

I went and had a one hour massage today. It was perfect. I also like to go to the mall and intentionally only go in stores that are things I like that the kids and hubby don't. I buy myself some sugary coffe thingy and buy a CD. Go see a chic flic by myself.

I made a new list.. my RAD experience has pushed me past my formula for healing.
moments of solitude
time with friends
time with friends in prayer
support groups
reading a book
good deed for the day
blogging ;)
I keep a food journal now
exercise (good for serotonin levels)
massages (muscle memory)
house projects
enjoy the weather
hope that helps
